Pupper Pouch Review!

Hey guys! I hope you are having a great week so far. We have exciting plans for the rest of this week, so I’m pretty excited. Anyway, one of the reasons I started this blog is to tell the pet-loving community about great products that we love! All of the products that we advocate are things that we personally like and enjoy using!

So our current obsession right now is Pupper pouch! Maybe have you heard of it? I haven’t heard of dog sacks until very recently, so I was very excited when Pupper Pouch offered to send us one to try out!

DSC_7158.JPGSo this is what it looks like. And aren’t those clips so cute!!! I haven’t seen them in this shape before!

Anyway, when I first saw the package, I was a bit confused on how it was supposed to be attached to Genevieve’s leash. The directions are pretty straight-forward on the back of the product. But I didn’t like the way the pouch attached to the leash. So I decided to be a rebel (hehe) and attached it to my dog’s harness for more support!

DSC_7169.JPGI think it fits fine on the leash, if you don’t already own a harness, but I just thought it was more stable on her side.

I love that this is lightweight, because I know a lot of the dog backpacks out there are super heavy duty. I mean, that’s useful for people hiking in the woods for several days, but I just want something to go to the park with.

We also go to a lot of baseball games, and this is helpful just to bring a lil’ snack along.

I would definitely recommend getting this product. Not only is it practical, but it isn’t bulky! It’s a win win!

Thanks again Pupper Pouch! You guys are awesome! We even made a YouTube video for them! Click here!DSC_7172.JPG

Thanks for reading! Till’ next time!

Top 10 Pure Dog Breeds to Own

Thinking of adopting? Or do you just want to see where you pet falls in this list? Here is the top 10 pure dog breeds, building up to #1! For another article, we are going to talk about our favorite cross-breeds!

But first, there is at least five things you should consider when you are choosing a pet, (if you don’t have one already).

  1. Temperament (personality)- Is this dog compatible with you? Your human best friend is compatible with you, which means your dog best friend must be too! Never settle for getting a dog you haven’t met. Sure, they could mold into your personality over time, but it’s nice to see if they are compatible at the start.
  2. Size- Keep this in mind if you have family, or when considering the practicality. You could live in an apartment and there are some regulations. Or maybe one of your children is afraid of large dogs. There are many things to consider when looking at the size of a dog, so be careful.
  3. Obedience- This can be obtained by training or even attending a puppy school. But make sure you know what you are signing up for if you get a rowdy dog. They can be more fun at times, but can leave a huge mess. Obedient dogs still know how to have fun!
  4. Energy Level- Are you an older person that can’t constantly walk your dog? Would you need a dog walker? Are you student that needs to study and can’t handle a dog bouncing off the walls? This is something very important to consider.
  5. Upkeep- Please excuse this rather harsh word, but this is SUPER important. Some people can not afford to take their pet every few months for a groom. Can your sink fit a whole retriever for washing? In reality, you want your dog to be the most comfortable they can be. And you can’t achieve that if you aren’t ready for all of the responsibilities. These things can include trimming toenails, trimming hair around their face, bathing weekly, daily walks, activities, etc.

And now, for the actual list! (Disclaimer: I believe all breeds have their strengths and weaknesses. There is no actual “best breeds”. These are just some that popped up when researching and came to mind. I supported all of them with my research and with some of our doggy friends from Instagram!)

10. Boston Terrier- These are extremely friendly dogs! They bond well with kids, so if you are a large family, this is a great option. However, it does need something to chew to keep its mouth busy.

This is our Boston Terrier friend Primrose from Instagram! (@primrosetheboston) Did you know Boston Terriers can also rock a sweater? (Just one of their many perks!)

9. Maltese- This dog is great for people with allergies because it doesn’t shed a lot and they get along with other pets! It was actually bred for companionship, so if you need a companion, the maltese is your go-to! Talk about a best friend!

Look how handsome is Beau? (Beau in French means handsome)! Check  out @thehandsomebeau for endless of adorable photos. Like it says in their bio, they are “Capturing hearts one day at a time.” ❤

8. King Charles Spaniel-  These are active yet elegant and calm dogs. They are easier to take care of so they are great for older people since they are loyal. This breed is typically a show dog, but they are super sweet and work well in families.

This is Ollie. She’s seven years old and loves to play! You can keep up with her adventures here. Just from this photo I can tell why they are used commonly for shows! They are super beautiful!

7. Rottweiler- This breed is super gentle with family and friends but is strong enough to protect them. Overall, they are just well-rounded! They are also incredibly smart!

This is Black, a new friend of mine on Instagram. Their account is so adorable!

6. Jack Russell Terrier- Talk about a fun dog! They are an active breed but is very trainable and loyal! They like to have attention, so make sure you devote some play time with them if you are looking towards adopting one!

Our favorite Jack Russell Terrier is Jesse! You might of seen his YouTube Channel before. It’s incredible what Jesse and his owner, Heather, have done with their social media presence. You should also check out some photos from their Instagram!

5. German Shepherd- German Shepherds are very protective of their families which makes them a good family dog. They are also very smart. They are so smart in fact, they were the top 3 smartest dogs on a list accumulated by Rover.com

This is Nala, who is just a little puppy at the moment! Follow her daily adventures on her Instagram!

4. Border Collie- I’ve met several border collies and they all have different personalities. Some are more gentler, and others are more bouncy! But these were originally bred to control flock out on farms. Because of this, they have great problem solving intelligence, and are arguably one of the brightest dogs.

Dasher here from @dasherbordercollie participates in a ton of agility, but has time for adorable photoshoots as well!

3. We are rounding a close with this article with our top 3 left! For #3, we chose the lovely… POODLE! They were bred for hunting and water retrieving. And despite the stereotype, they actually aren’t French (only toy poodles are). They are German! Beeindruckend! (wow!) They are fun to be around and they are smart!

Say hello to Bentley @bentley_the_poodle who is a standard parti poodle! He’s a cutie!

2. Labrador Retriever- Did you know that this was the most popular breed in the U.S. for 23 years in a row? These dogs were built for the active lifestyle, and are great companions in general. You got to love ’em!

Henry is fulfilling his active lifestyle in this photo! But he also has a soft side! Check out his Instagram!

1. And taking the #1 spot on our list… the Golden Retriever! Hence the name, this pet retriever very well, displaying good agility. They are great service animals, because of their compassion, and I have known of few that have went into therapy work! But they also make the best family dogs because their obedience and their constant companionship, through the ups and downs of the life that we live in.

This is Cupcake, which is one of the cutest names ever! Her Instagram makes me smile so much! And who couldn’t smile when they see this photo? I mean come on?!

Island Belle Jewelry Review!

Island Belle Jewelry sent us this beautiful necklace!DSC_6937.JPG

It is a gold triangle, and we received ours at a shorter length (I believe it was 18″) so it is higher up on my neck, sort of like a more classy choker.

DSC_6942.JPGHere is a close up. I would suggest getting a little longer chain if you don’t like knowing you have a necklace on at all times. It doesn’t tug on you or anything, you just notice it more when it is shorter.

DSC_7010.JPGGenevieve was intrigued! We showed her what we received in the mail, but she scoffed. “What, no treats for me?”

But seriously, this necklace is very high quality and we were very lucky to receive it! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a new layering necklace. This shop also has a lot of tropical-themed jewelry, so that seems like a lot of fun to wear during the summertime!

I also got tons of compliments on this necklace!

But then she realized how cute it was!

Awesome Pet-Themed Shirts!!!

Ah! I cannot explain the excitement I felt when we received these cute shirts from Peace Love Paws! They are fantastic quality, and I have received tons of compliments from wearing them!

DSC_6932This is the baseball tee we received. It says, “She loves 3 good things: A good friend, a good laugh, but most of all, a good dog.” I really love this so much. We got it in a slightly larger size so that I could wear it with leggings! I wear it comfortably at long baseball tournaments, and this is actually the color scheme of the team that I support! 🙂

DSC_6933How cute is this logo?!!

DSC_6926Peace Love Paws sent us an extra shirt! We were surprised and thankful! This is just a regular t-shirt, but I wanted to emphasize this beautiful design. It really captures the love between a dog and a girl! It is a little wide around the neckline, so if you don’t like that, I would get a slightly smaller size than you usually wear!DSC_6948

I haven’t seen anything close to this design in stores or online! It truly is original and a work of art!

DSC_6928Makes my heart absolutely melt!DSC_6927Part of the proceeds go back to numerous shelters around the U.S. How great is that? They have so many other things to chose from, such as bags, sweatshirts, and more! Check out their website!

Want to see photos of the t-shirts next to Genevieve, our Goldendoodle? We’ll be posting soon on our Instagram!

Bringing Pets on Vacation?

Do you have the urge to travel, but have a pet or multiple pets? If you said yes to this first question, this blog post is perfect for you!

Ah, summer. It’s the time where we engulf those fresh summer vibes and undertake adventures. I personally love traveling. I have been to 11 states and 11 countries total! In most of my travels, we unfortunately have to leave my sweet Goldendoodle, Genevieve, behind. But sometimes, she has tagged along!DSC_4361.JPG

I know, it’s hard. That little furry face is the first thing you want to wake up and see. But unfortunately, we can’t always bring them along. Here is some questions you can ask yourself to determine whether you should bring your furry friend along!

  1. Will your overnight stays accommodate pets? Whether it is staying with family, or staying at a hotel, make sure you know your limits. There may be difficulties from allergies, to extra fees!
  2. Have you educated yourself about that particular form of transportation? If you are going on a plane and your pet is not going to be a passenger, inform yourself on how they will be handling your dog or cat.
  3. Do you have an anxious pet? This influences the amount of traveling the pet can participate in. Remember, these pets will not be as pleasant on flights and long car rides, etc.
  4. Is it nearby? Closer locations are easier to travel to with your furry companion. There are so amazing places to visit right in our backyard! These spots are better for your pet to tag along.
  5. Will my pet be comfortable? This kind of goes along with the other questions, but it is still HIGHLY important. We like to think selfishly, and crave that cute photo of us with our pets in a tropical location. But in reality, if it costs them their security and trust in you, why would you sacrifice that? Your relationship with your pet is much more important. When you come home, your dog/cat will be even more happy to see you!

You have plenty of options if you decide to leave your furry friend behind! Perhaps they could stay with a willing friend that can dog-sit! Or put them in a boarding place with other pets! There are plenty of options!

Yes, we love our pets. But this summer is OURS and we need to rejuvenate and make the most of every second. You can still take endless of photos of your pet and make memes of them when you come back. So hello sunshine!!!

Thanks for reading! Till’ next time!

Pssssssst!!! Check out our last post if you are a Goldendoodle Owner!

A Goldendoodle’s Owner Guide!

Hello there! I am going to wind the product review posts down a little bit because I want to also share another part of this blog which is going to be advice for pet owners. I specifically dedicated this post to Goldendoodles, because Genevieve is one! Having a Goldendoodle has been a blessing, but there are also health issues and concerns that I researched which runs commonly between this beautiful breed!

A Goldendoodle, if you didn’t already know, is a mix of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Genevieve is 3/4 Poodle and 1/4 Golden Retriever. She is also a second generation (b2).

Genevieve joined our family because one of our family members is highly allergic to everything, and we were informed that Goldendoodles are great for people with allergies. This breed isn’t typically found in shelters, since they are hypoallergenic and desired by many people.

The reason why Goldendoodles are great for people with allergies is because they don’t shed very much. It’s great, because it keeps the house clean! I’m not saying Genevieve does not shed; She has her moments. But she sheds a lot less than some people’s dogs I know.

Goldendoodles are known for experiencing hip dysplasia in their senior years. Genevieve is eight years old and is considered a senior dog. Genevieve has not had any problems with this yet, knock on wood, but if you ever see your Goldendoodle limping, you should definitely make sure that this is not relating to their hip!

Also, did you know that Goldendoodles can commonly be allergic to chicken? What? Well, Genevieve had a major health scare a year ago, where she was staring at walls and couldn’t stand up. Her sight had been compromised. We went to the vet, and they didn’t know what was going on. After a lot of tests and research, we learned that in fact, it had been caused by chicken! She got a middle-ear infection from it on both ears, and it caused her to lose her balance and some other functions. It took her a whole month   to recover fully. Make sure you know your dog’s limits! Try to stay away from chicken if you are a Goldendoodle owner, (unless you know for 100% that your dog is not allergic).

Grooming is difficult, but make sure you brush your dog out (especially around the ears), weekly or even daily to avoid tangles. If you don’t do this, the next time you go to the groomers, they will shave the hair very close to the skin because they don’t want to deal with tangled dog hair! It’s also a good idea to keep ear wipes on hand to avoid infection since Goldendoodles have floppy ears. We use the Earth Bath brand.

Keep grooming scissors on hand for the face. We always trim around Genevieve’s eyes every once in a while so that we can see them. This may apply to a lot  of other breeds!

Thanks for reading! I hope this informed you more about your pet! A lot of these facts can apply to breeds similar to the Goldendoodle. If you want another one of these kinds of guides, you can request it in the comments. You can in fact request any blog post in the comments, and I’ll be sure to write something up!image

Cocosbed Review!

Hello! Cocosbed sent us this awesome bed to test out and write a review about!

We love this because it truly is fool proof! The faux leather bed is water resistant, and the cover/throw can be snapped off to wash. It is also reversible! And guess what? The pad is made from memory foam!! (This gets TWO exclamation marks) 🙂

To access the memory foam, you can unzip the leather section (see YouTube video).

DSC_6856I mean, look how comfy Genevieve looks! How can this be staged? She is truly happy!

Life can get tiring sometimes, so I’m glad Cocosbed got us covered!DSC_6882.JPGShe is in absolute bliss on this mattress. Any dog will be absolutely blessed to have this.
